The Wildlife Guardian received information last week that the recently convicted huntsman Daniel Cherriman and the South Shropshire Hunt had been invited to hunt Quorn country on Friday 24th of February 2023. According to the same source, this was due to the Quorn Hunt having fired the majority of their hunt staff.
A surveillance operation was quickly planned by one of our investigators with two further volunteers from the Hunt Saboteurs Association.
The hunt met at Lowesby Hall (owned by David Williams Wilson formerly of David Wilson Homes) at 11am. Two of the monitors positioned themselves above Sludge Hall looking toward the meet from 2km away.
While still setting up their camera gear they observed the pack of dogs chasing something from the meet within the first 15 minutes. They recorded the aftermath of the suspected kill in the released video.
Despite the admittedly long distance away that this footage was taken, it begs a number of questions to be asked of the hunt:
• When you consider the noise and chaos of people and vehicles at the meet, how did this hunt immediately manage to pick up a quarry to chase, so quickly?
• If terrierwork has currently been suspended by the British Hound Sports Association why were terriermen operating on this day?
• If this was a “one-off unfortunate accident”, why was the removal of the body done so quickly and efficiently?
The hunting community throughout the UK has been involved in endless and continuous scandals over the last few years, yet they appear to learn nothing and still continue to act in a lawless and callous way.
