Gin traps cause suffering for Devon’s pet

Cat loses leg in gin trap

The RSPCA in Devon believes a cat which was found suffering from horrific injuries is the victim of an illegal gin trap.

It was unlike Whisky to go missing. But when the five year old returned to his Topsham home the reason for his absence was plain to see.

It seems the cat had ripped off his leg in an effort to escape some kind of trap.

It is illegal to set gin traps. Needless to say they can cause enormous damage and suffering to animals.

Inspector Tony Woodley from the RSPCA told the BBC; “An animal losing a limb is a terrible injury and his resilience shows.”

When he was a five week old kitten Whisky was abandoned in a hedge. After his latest experience he will need all the tender loving care he can get.
